About this Course.
Health anxiety affects a considerable percentage of the population, causes great personal suffering and debilitation, and adds considerably to the demands on the healthcare sector. While labelled (DSM V) a ‘somatoform disorder’, Health Anxiety is characterised by; a preoccupation with physical symptoms, excessive worrying about one’s health, excessive checking and excessive ‘reassurance seeking’. Clearly then, from a psychological perspective, similarities and overlap with anxiety issues such as ‘panic disorder’ and ‘generalised anxiety disorder’ are to be expected.
For these reasons, we have added this latest topic to our ‘Anxiety Specialist’ CPD workshop series. As with each of our stand-alone workshops, this day will focus on one specific (and easy-to-use) CBT treatment protocol and will focus on clinical skills practice.

This workshop has been tailored to suit experienced psychotherapists, including (but not necessarily) those who have done some prior training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. As with each of these workshops, this day will qualify for 6 hours of CPD credit.

- Be up-to-date with recent diagnostic changes in relation to Health Anxiety
- Be familiar with an overview of a cognitive behavioural model for Health Anxiety
- Be practised in a semi-structured conversation to gather the necessary information from the Health Anxiety client
- Be confident in developing - and explaining to the client - a case formulation for Health Anxiety
- Know how to discuss treatment options available to the client.
- Be familiar with some basic working features of CBT
- Be able to help clients to better manage their health-related worrying, through some simple, but powerful, techniques
- Leave with a comprehensive take-away Resource Pack, containing training notes and extra helpful resources.

About the Presenter:
Rosario Nolan is a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. She is based in Navan, Co. Meath, where she has been running a busy private practice for the past fifteen years, specialising in the treatment of Depression and the Anxiety disorders.
Aside from working as a psychotherapist, Rosario presents, facilitates and teaches Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to psychotherapists, psychotherapy students, healthcare practitioners and members of the public. She is committed to making excellent CBT treatments available and accessible to as many people as possible, through;
As someone very experienced in CPD training and supervision - both as participant and leader – Rosario believes that the learning experience, be it in training or supervision, should adhere to the cognitive behavioural therapy model – using Structure, Collaborative Empiricism, Guided Discovery...and Creativity! She is also very interested in making best use of technology to assist learning – in therapy and in training.
Rosario holds a Masters degree in Family Therapy & Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and a certificate in clinical Supervision. She is an accredited practitioner with both BACP and BABCP.
